Since December we have endeavoured to maintain a constant supply of fresh produce with minimal disruption to our customers despite the well-publicised, extreme weather conditions across Europe.
As you may have seen recently on the news, Spain received flash flooding throughout December, then heavy snowfall and freezing conditions this month. This has all but destroyed the courgette, aubergine and pepper crops in some parts of Spain.
Broccoli, Tomato and cucumber prices have also been affected with the poor weather conditions.
Salad supply has decreased dramatically, prices are at the highest levels seen in years and supply is sporadic.
In Italy, following heavy snowfall, prices have also crept up and we have seen shortages and quality issues in baby spinach, rocket, parsley & fennel
Our suppliers are desperately trying to maintain supply but as demand continues to grow, we may find shortages and price increases
We expect this to continue for the foreseeable future until growing conditions improve and crops recover.
In light of the adverse weather and shortages, we would recommend contacting our sales department prior to placing orders to ensure we can facilitate your requirements.
We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.
